We built Telaya on a foundation of family and hard work. These two principles guide our philosophy in handcrafting Idaho and Washington wines, and our focus on hospitality.

Telaya started in 2008, when we produced 50 cases of carefully conceived wine. We’ve grown quite a bit since then. Our facility — which includes a full production space and tasting room — is located right on the Boise Greenbelt, just minutes from downtown and a few feet from the Boise River. Guests can enjoy tasting flights, glasses and bottles of our Washington and Idaho wine while overlooking the scenic river.

Welcome to our Idaho estate vineyard and artisan winery, located in Southern Idaho’s Snake River Valley AVA along the Sunnyslope Wine Trail. You’ll find Huston Vineyards on Chicken Dinner Road, adjacent to the historic town of Huston, Idaho. As farmers, first of all, our wines begin in the vineyards, whether one of our estate vineyards or a specially-selected vineyard, which might bring a unique terroir component to our wines. Each site is carefully farmed and personally managed to ensure the premium quality of our handcrafted, small lot varietal wines. Every year, 30 to 40 different small lots are carefully watched over in the vineyard and winery, ensuring that the very best of the Snake River Valley is bottled in each vintage. The Snake River Valley’s long and abundant growing history stems from our rich volcanic soils, intense sunlight, and warm, dry temperatures—and proximity to the Snake River. Fruit is ripened by the warm growing season, as well as the diurnal shift offering cool nights—preserving acids and creating fruit-forward wines with outstanding structure. Visit us, and enjoy what’s pouring at the winery—on Chicken Dinner Road, the gateway to the Sunnyslope Wine Trail, in the heart of the Snake River Valley AVA. Veer Wine Project began in 2016 as an outlet for Will Wetmore, an Assistant Winemaker at another Idaho Winery, to create and explore wines and winemaking techniques he was interested in. Each year the project evolves but at its core Veer is our reminder to not be afraid to take chances, change course and continue to explore.

Our vision is to provide the community with a unique farm-to-table experience through both our farm and our winery offerings. Our land overlooks the breathtaking Snake River Valley and has been a historical piece of farmland that the community knows well. We loved that historical aspect so much so that we took the old milking parlor on the farm and transformed it into a beautiful tasting room for our patrons (Kudos to Ma + Pa). From dirt floors and Holsteins, to a polished western interior- Dunning Estates came into existence.

There are over 3,100 whitewater river miles in the state of Idaho. We met and our story started on the Middle Fork of the Salmon and we decided to start making sparkling wine in Idaho while on a trip in Hells Canyon. Our winemaking and family journey has had many meanderings through just a fraction of those thousands of miles.

We started making wine in 2014. Hailey's parents helped plant (and now manage) our estate vineyard in 2017. We believe every great wine region in the world should make bubbles and when we started making wine in 2014, no one in Idaho had committed to making world class sparkling wine on a regular basis. So we did! With a few vintages under our belts and one year in the Idaho industry, we snagged one ton of Chardonnay and made some killer wine. Then we let it sit, and sit, and sit until it was tasting a little like an old world style traditional method sparkling wine. We have kept up with that style, allowing our wines to age on average for 3 years, sometimes longer, and sometimes not so long.

The sparkling wine we make is a tribute and thanks to the whitewater that has shaped our story. We strive to make a wine as alive as the rivers that inspire it.

The unique cobbled soil of our vineyard allows us to grow a diverse range of grape varietals. This combined with our elevation and consistent hot, dry summers give us the climate of old-world wine growing regions such as the Rhone Valley (Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre), the Douro Valley (Tempranillo, Touriga), Austria (Blauer Zweigelt), and Northern Italy (Barbera).
